How to detect the fault of adjustable potentiometer


A. Before the detection of the adjustable potentiometer must be zero resistance, in the measurement of resistance, each replacement rate after blocking, must be reset to zero. 2. When testing with the multimeter, first select the appropriate resistance position of the multimeter according to the resistance value of the adjustable potentiometer to be measured. At this time, use the electricity of the multimeter to block the 1,2 ends of the potentiometer pin, rotate the potentiometer axis 2 counterclockwise to close to the closed position. Then slowly rotate the shaft clockwise. When the shaft is rotated to the extreme position of 3, the resistance value should be close to the nominal value of the potentiometer. If the pointer of the multimeter jumps during the rotation of the shaft handle of the potentiometer, it indicates that the active contact of the potentiometer has the fault of bad contact.

Finally, the remaining 1,3 ends of the potentiometer are measured by the electrical barrier of the multimeter, and the reading measured is the nominal resistance of the potentiometer. For example, when the multimeter is measured, the pointer does not move or the resistance value varies greatly, which indicates that the potentiometer is damaged.
